Summer 2015

A group of friends decide to take action and don't watch the death of thousands of migrants in the Mediterranean sea. The very fundamental idea of HPI is born:

HPI developes and enables humanitarian aid by air for everybody/person in state of emergency.

August 2015

The humanitarian pilots initiative foundation (HPI) is being founded in switzerland.

Spring 2016

HPI launches the first Central Med Operation from Djerba, the first 2 Refugee Boats get rescued due to the actions of our Crew.

Summer 2016

The Ultralight Aircraft gets grounded for political reasons in Tunisia.

In record time HPI manages to launch another operation from Malta with a chartered aircraft. In the two weeks over 200 people in distress get rescued.

Summer 2017

Operation Moonbird is being launched with the new HPI operated Cirrus SR-22 Aircraft.

HPI starts to build continuous Operation in the Central Med. The foundation grows to 18 voluntary Pilots and over 6 people in the back office.

During the summer time HPI manages to save over 1500 people in immediate distress.

Moonbird is involved in the rescue of over 15`000 peoples on the central Mediterranean sea.

Spring 2018

Besides the continuous efforts in the Mediterranean sea HPI develops the first idea of the new project called Airborne Emergency Response Unit (AERU).

Fall 2018

HPI develops the AERU Airdrop parachute System.

The certification Testdrops are a full success, the system is over performing the expectations.

Swiss authority BAZL approves the system.

Summer 2019

Within half a year HPI manages to collect over 300 used parachutes to be deployed with the AERU system.

This would give the possibility to drop over 36 tons of humanitarian aid.

2020

Political blockades and a high victim rate in the central med moves HPI to look for a second Aircraft to operate.

The Beech Barron 56 (Seabird) enters service in the central med operations.

This twin engine aircraft also gives HPI the opportunity to continue on the development of AERU Airdrop System.

2o19-2020

HPI is involved and partners up with swiss drone manufacturer Dufour-Aerospace. First concepts of a deployment of the Aero2 get developed.

Winter 2020-2021

The AERU workgroup grows and starts to move the concept of AERU to action.

HPI is in the process to become air operator certificate (AOC).

2021

HPI drops over 2 tons of humanitarian goods in disaster relieve effords in.....

The AERU project proofs to save and change lifes from people in state of emergency. LETS DO IT! :D
