AIRBORNE EMERGENCY RESPONSE UNIT
AERU is HPI’s latest project. The goal is to create an airborne disaster and crisis intervention unit that will provide humanitarian aid as quickly and as efficiently as possible anywhere in the world.
With the use of a specialized system that has been developed through the use of recycled emergency parachutes from paragliders and a modular concept for transport boxes, relief supplies and personnel will be parachuted to crisis areas.
The system enables a large volume (payload 45-140 kg) of relief supplies, such as food, water treatment systems, or medical equipment to be deposited efficiently and in a cost-effective way to a range of difficult to reach areas. A modular concept allows the system to be compatible with various aircrafts, therefore, enhancing the flexibility of use worldwide.
We, at HPI see AERU as a long-term project that will bring sustainability, cost-effective, and highly efficient humanitarian aid from the air to the world.
FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has tested the AERU system and found it to be good. Quote from the test report "The AERU system is suitable for disaster missions under difficult conditions. The FOCA has not found any technical, systemic or material-related defects. The system is ready for use and can be used productively".
On September 11 and 12, 2018, the parachute system was successfully tested for the first time in St. Stephan (CH). HPW was able to test the system from an airplane with over 15 drops in order to gain the necessary experience. All tests were supervised and approved by the FOCA (Federal Office for Civil Aviation).
The system worked according to plan in all as respects and further exceeded expectations. Now the parachute and box system can go into the series of production.
WE ARE SEEKING SUPPORT
Following the successful tests, it is now time to launch AERU into the world. For this we need the support of private donors, companies, and foundations.
We are currently looking for financial support to mass produce the launch system in order to move into the first crisis area.
Help to make it possible with AERU now and help people in need from the air!
PARAGLIDER EMERGENCY PARACHUTES WANTED
For AERU we are looking for old paraglider rescue systems. These are used exclusively for humanitarian purposes.
